This was announced by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour on Instagram. Parry played the saxophone on well-known albums by the British band.

“His feel and warm tone always made his saxophone playing instantly recognizable,” Gilmour wrote alongside photos of Parry. “His playing is known to millions and forms an inseparable part of songs like Shine On You Crazy Diamond.”

Gilmour and Parry were friends for over sixty years. Parry played saxophone on iconic Pink Floyd albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Division Bell.

During concerts, Parry often carried two saxophones at once, allowing him to switch quickly between the baritone and tenor saxophone. In addition to his work with Pink Floyd, he also played with The Who for a few years in the late 1970s.

Parry also played various keyboard instruments, including the glass harmonica.
