Although his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour ended three years ago, Elton John will be performing for a massive crowd once again later this year. The British singer announced on Instagram that he will take the stage twice at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City in early October.

The 79-year-old John calls the performances on October 2 and 3 his “farewell to Mexico.” According to the singer, Mexico City has always held a special place in his heart. “I was really disappointed that the pandemic prevented me from performing in Latin America during my Farewell tour. That makes this return extra meaningful,” John wrote alongside the announcement. “I can’t wait to share this very special moment with my fans after all these years.”

This marks the first time since 2012 that John will perform in Mexico. During his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which concluded in July 2023, he played a total of 330 shows in major stadiums worldwide. Since then, John has taken the stage several times for one-off concerts or benefit performances in smaller venues.
