Phil Collins’ Children Almost Said Goodbye to Him After Hospitalization

Phil Collins’ children feared they would lose their father in 2024 when he was admitted to the hospital due to excessive alcohol consumption, the 75-year-old singer tells The Sunday Times.

Collins’ family members faced difficult decisions regarding medical support as his condition deteriorated. “My kidneys failed, my organs were just shutting down,” the British artist says.

He does not remember his children visiting him to say goodbye. “I had no idea any of this was going on. They were all afraid they wouldn’t see me again. It could have all gone so terribly wrong,” Collins says.

The singer realizes how fortunate he was to ultimately recover. “It goes without saying that I haven’t had a drop to drink since,” he emphasizes.

The former Genesis frontman last performed in 2022, after suffering from issues including permanent nerve damage, hearing problems, and a persistent knee injury. With Genesis, he scored hits such as Mama, Land of Confusion, and I Can’t Dance.

Collins has five children with three different women. His daughter Lily stars in the series Emily in Paris.
