Top 5 US Chart Consists Entirely of Country Songs for the First Time

The US chart, the Billboard Hot 100, is topped by five country songs for the first time in history. Singer Ella Langley holds the number one spot in the all-country top 5 with her hit Choosin’ Texas, followed by Morgan Wallen.

Wallen enters at number two this week with his new single Been By Now. Third place goes to Taylor Swift, who returns to the country music that originally launched her career with I Knew It, I Knew You, featured on the soundtrack for Toy Story 5.

Langley and Wallen can also be found in the top 5 together once more. Their duet I Can’t Love You Anymore sits at number four. Fifth place is reserved for the song Boston by singer Stella Lefty. According to Billboard, four country songs occupied top-five spots for two weeks last month, but this marks the first time the genre has completely taken over the entire top 5.

Langley, who holds both the first and fourth spots, has been on a steady rise in the United States all year. This marks the sixteenth week that her hit Choosin’ Texas has topped the chart. She now ties her duet partner Morgan Wallen’s Last Night, Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s One Sweet Day, and Despacito by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee, all of which spent the same amount of time at number one.

Only Old Town Road by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus and A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey (19 weeks), alongside Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You (22 weeks), have spent longer atop the US chart.

Although Choosin’ Texas was released in October of last year, it did not hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 until February. Since then, it has also become a number-one hit in countries such as Australia, Canada, and Ireland, and reached the top 3 in the United Kingdom last week. In the Netherlands, Langley has so far peaked at number 93.
